Fit India Movement is a call to create a fit society. Fit India Movement will call upon citizens to inculcate good health and wellbeing habits as part of day-to-day life. With the encouragement of the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, people are expected to move away from the thought pattern of how to spend some energy on fitness. The mission is that people need to lead a more healthy lifestyle. With the increasing issues of lifestyle diseases, obesity, and sedentary living, this was the much-needed initiative to be fit and active. Important features of the Fit India Movement are:

What is Fit India Movement?

Fit India Movement is a movement for change in people’s mind-set toward health more than being a fitness campaign. The Fit India Movement was launched on 29th August 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of National Sports Day. The launch ceremony was held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. National Sports Day, which was held every year to commemorate the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, was taken as the date to encourage the country to take up sports and fitness activities.
